LIVING Commissions

What are we looking for?

LIVING is looking for trashy factual entertainment programming. By that we mean commissions that deliver our viewers a guilty pleasure, with unashamedly populist subjects (yes we like celebrities) and subject matters (what’s making the headlines in the tabloids day in and day out?). This does not mean we shy away from the subjects that really matter to audiences nor are we prepared to sacrifice on the quality of our programmes.

Fundamentally we are looking for good story telling, formatted or otherwise, with real people (yes celebrities are real people too!), real stories and real journeys at their heart. The drama has to make our viewers really care and want to go on that journey. Transformation, full engagement and life changing experiences are some of the fundamental ingredients we expect in our commissions.

Commissions that have worked well for LIVING recently include Dirty Dancing (dance elimination show based on the iconic film, with talented dancers and an amazing life changing prize) and To The Manor Bowen (ob-doc about a fun UK celebrity family moving from the city to the country).

The channel has a young demographic skew (under 45) and tends to attract more female viewers than male.

LIVING’s commissions need to stand out as UK originated against our predominately US acquired slate, be that via characters, locations or subject matter.

And most of all, we want to take risks. The more risky, witty, innovative and fresh the idea the more likely we are to say yes.
